Enter your class name to get started. Get the class name from your teacher. Spelling is important, but you can use either upper or lower case letters, and spacing does not matter.
After you enter your class name, follow the prompts. You will be asked to enter your first and last name and your email address (if you know it). If you enter your email, your password will be sent there.
You will then select a screen name and avatar.
Your "screen name" is the name that you will use when you play chess. Both you, and your opponents, will see this name for you when you play.
Your "avatar" is a picture that will represent your image. Both you, and your opponents, will see your avatar when you play chess.
After you complete your registration, you will see your password (and it will be emailed to you, if you entered your email address).
Important! Write down your password, and keep it in a safe place. You will need your password to log in to the play site.
If you lose your password, click "Lost Password" at the top of the screen, or ask your teacher for help.
Enter your First Name and Password, then click where it says "Click here to Log In".
Passwords are lower-case but you can also use capital letters, and it will work the same.
After you log in, the play room should launch automatically. If it does not launch automatically, you should see a link that says "Click here to play chess!". Click that link to launch the play room manually.
Under the heading "I want to play:", choose Regular Chess, The Pawn Game, or both.
Under the heading "My opponent should be:", make sure the box marked "Another Student" is checked. Then, click the button labeled "Let's Go!".
Your game should begin automatically when another student shows up. If you don't wish to continue waiting, either click "Stop Searching" to return to the previous screen, or click "Play the Computer" to start a game against the computer.
Under the heading "I want to play:", choose Regular Chess, The Pawn Game, or Practice Checkmates.
Under the heading "My opponent should be:", make sure the box marked "The Computer" is checked. Then, click the button labeled "Let's Go!".
You will see the Game Settings window. Here you can set the computer playing strength, and you will have another chance to choose the type of game you want to play.
When you are satisfied with your choices, click "Start Game".
