How to Register Students for Online Play

1. Go to play.firstmovechess.org

2. Use your first name and password to log in (not case sensitive).

3. Click on "Register a New Student".

4. Enter the student's first and last name and click "Continue" (email is not required).

5. A confirmation page will come up on the screen. Review the info and click "I Agree".

6. The next screen contains the password for that student. Students also log in using their first name and password. When your students log in for the first time, they will be prompted to choose an “Avatar” (a picture) and a screen name (in a step-by-step process).

Additional Information

After you log in, you will see the following options (described below).

Use this option to enter the play room and play chess either vs. the computer or vs. another person.

The first time you choose this option, you will be prompted to complete your registration in four steps.

1. Confirm your name and email address.
2. Select a screen name.
3. Select an avatar.
4. Verify the information.

Your screen name and avatar will only be visible in the play room.

After you complete your registration, you will not be asked to do this again.

2. Show Class Information

Use this option to see who is in your class, with a summary of the activity of each student.

Important: use Class Information to help your students when they lose their passwords.

3. Register a New Student

To add a student to your class, click "Register a New Student", then follow the prompts. You will need to enter the student's name and email address (if desired). If you enter an email address, the student's password will be sent to that address.

The first name is required - it is used to log in. For the last name, an initial is sufficient. However, you should be able to identify the student by referring to their first and last name, as entered here.

Students can also register themselves. See Students.

4. Click here to log out

Use this option to terminate your login.

This is important. If you stay logged in, then someone else could use the computer to view student information and/or create more student accounts. You will get logged out automatically after one hour without activity, or whenever you close the Web Browser.
